Every third individuals who died during the third COVID-19 surge from December 6, 2021 through February 24, 2022 was aged between 61 and 75 years.

Delhi government’s health and family welfare department shared data during the Delhi Disaster Management Authority review meeting on the management of COVID-19, stating that 1,017 individuals died during the third wave. Among these, 32.6% were aged between 61 and 75 years, followed by 26.2% aged over 75 years. The report revealed that Omicron was the predominant variant during the third wave and 92% of the samples sent for genome sequencing were found infected with Omicron.
